How can you maintain a good posture while working from home?
Work from home is the new normal for majority of us after the pandemic. Here is a free guide to help you to maintain a good posture during this time.
Lets consider a common example of poor posture and then lets consider some simple tips to help you maintain a good posture while working from home.

Lets look at this picture and see what is contributing to poor posture here.

1. Laptop is too low
2. Neck is protuding forwards and bent forwards
3. Arms are sticking out forwards on the desk
4. Sitting forwards in the chair
5. Back is not completely supported
6. Legs are crossed over
7. Feet are not completely on the ground

Follow these points for a good posture while sitting at your desk!

1. Raise your laptop so that the top of your computer screen should be 5-10 degrees below the horizontal gaze from your eyes. This will prevent your from sticking your head out or bending your neck forwards. You can use a laptop stand or a couple of thick books or a shoebox under the laptop for raising its height.

2.Use an external  keyboard and mouse so that your arm to forearm angle (at the elbow) is at approximately 90 degrees. Make sure that your wrists are in neutral and not bent upwards. You can use a mouse pad with wrist support or a rolled up face towel under your wrist to achieve a neutral position.

3.  Always sit right back into your chair. If your chair is too deep then place a pillow behind your back.

4. When sitting,
try using a stool or a shoe box under your feet to avoid them from dangling in the air. The angle between your thighs and legs (at the knees) should be approximately 90 degrees.

5. If you have the habit of crossing your legs over or crossing one leg under your bottom, make sure you balance it out by doing the same on the other side as well.
