Why Do You Get Sudden Back Pain During Certain Movements and 4 Easy Tips to Manage It
As an executive mum, your day is often packed with back-to-back meetings, managing a demanding career, and keeping up with family responsibilities. With so much on your plate, experiencing sudden back pain during certain movements can feel like a frustrating setback. Whether it’s bending down to pick up your child or twisting to grab something off your desk, unexpected pain can leave you wondering, What just happened? In this blog lets discuss why this occurs and what you can do about it.

Here are some common reasons why sudden back pain can happen:
Muscle Strain or Spasm:
Quick, jerky movements or lifting objects improperly can strain your back muscles. These small but sudden tears or overuse of the muscles can lead to spasms, making even minor movements painful.

Joint Dysfunction: Your spine is supported by small joints called facet joints. Sometimes, improper posture or repetitive stress can irritate these joints, leading to sharp pain when twisting or bending.

Nerve Irritation: A pinched or compressed nerve—often caused by conditions like a herniated disc or spinal stenosis can cause sudden shooting pain that radiates to the back, legs, or even shoulders.

Poor Posture and Movement Patterns: Hours spent sitting at your desk or slouching over your phone can weaken your back muscles and lead to poor movement mechanics, making you more susceptible to pain during everyday activities.

Lack of Core Stability: Your core muscles play a key role in stabilizing your spine. Weak core muscles can leave your back vulnerable to sudden strain or misalignment during activities like lifting or reaching.

Here are 4 easy tips on how to manage and prevent sudden back pain:
Pause and Rest: If you experience sudden pain, avoid pushing through it. Take a moment to rest and assess your movement patterns.

Mind Your Posture: Whether you are at your desk or carrying your child, maintain proper posture to reduce strain on your back. Use lumbar support in your chair and keep your feet flat on the floor while sitting.

Warm Up Before Activity: Engage in light stretches or movements to prepare your back and core for tasks that involve bending, twisting, or lifting.

Strengthen Your Core: Incorporate core-strengthening exercises into your routine to provide better support for your spine.

Sudden back pain during certain movements is not uncommon, especially for busy executive mums balancing career and home life. By understanding the potential causes and making small but impactful changes to your posture, movement habits, and core strength, you can protect your back and minimise these painful interruptions. Remember, taking care of your body is essential for keeping up with your demanding lifestyle.

MEET SWATI

Hi there!
I am Swati, an Executive Mum Power Coach & Certified Posture Expert

I help mums of young kids working in high-stress executive jobs manage back, neck, and nerve pain, even with low energy, brain fog, and little time to spare. My proven system delivers real relief without stealing hours from your already packed day. The result? More productive professionals at work and guilt-free mums who can be fully present with their kids, instead of being sidelined by pain.

My passion comes from personal experience. I’ve been where you are: in pain, overwhelmed, and exhausted. After two pregnancies in three years, juggling my kids, housework, and a demanding job, I was stuck in a constant cycle of back and nerve pain. The physical load of motherhood added strain to my spine and joints. Meanwhile, adrenal fatigue left me drained, even after 10–12 hours of sleep.

Everyday tasks became a struggle. I was forgetful, foggy, and low on energy. Even as a trained physiotherapist and posture expert, I couldn’t escape my own pain. I stood all day at work, spent evenings on the laptop, rocked my kids to sleep, sat through endless meetings, traveled frequently ... I’ve been through it all.

I kept my pain hidden at work, afraid to speak up. I felt like a fraud, someone who coached others on relief strategies but couldn’t find relief herself. I loved my job and my children, but I couldn’t give 100% to either. Pain was holding me back.

One New Year, I made a resolution: to get healthy, not just fix pain, fatigue, or weight. I focused on reducing inflammation, healing my adrenal fatigue, and reclaiming my energy. Slowly but surely, the pain faded. I lost weight, my brain fog cleared, and my energy skyrocketed. Today, my pain is nearly gone. I feel stronger, clearer, and more in control than I have in years.
And now, I want that for you.

I combine professional expertise with lived experience to support other mums like me, those with young kids, high-stress jobs, and no time for complicated health programs. I’ve helped hundreds of women reduce spinal and joint pain, lift their energy, and clear the mental fog that holds them back.

If any of this resonates, you’re not alone. I’ve been there. I got you, mommy!

Let’s get you feeling strong, confident, and fully present at work and at home.
Are you ready to start? Curious about how this works? Just ask.

Let's DO THIS!
