The Impact of Poor Standing Posture On Your Energy Levels
Have you ever reached the middle of the afternoon and wondered why you feel so physically tired? Not sleepy. Not mentally exhausted. But like your body has been working much harder than it should have. Many executive mums assume this is simply part of a busy life, getting older, or not sleeping well enough. But sometimes, there is another factor quietly contributing to that feeling of physical fatigue: Your standing posture. This is specially true for those who stand for hours for their work, maybe with a standing desk.
In this blog, let's explore how the way you stand can influence your energy levels and what your body may need instead.

One of the goals of good posture is efficiency. When your body is aligned well, your muscles, joints, and supporting structures share the workload. No one area has to work excessively hard to keep you upright. Your body uses the minimum amount of energy needed to maintain its position. The challenge is that many of us spend long periods standing with our weight shifted onto one hip, leaning forwards, locking our knees, or allowing our shoulders and head to drift forward. These positions may feel comfortable at first because they require very little conscious effort. But over time, they often create a different problem. Some muscles begin working much harder than they need to. Others switch off. And your body becomes less efficient.

Small Compensations Require Energy:
Imagine carrying a shopping bag with your arm held slightly away from your body. At first, it does not seem like a big deal. But after a while, your muscles begin to tire because they are working harder than necessary. The same thing happens with posture.
When your head shifts forward, your shoulders round, or your weight shifts unevenly through your legs, your muscles are constantly making small adjustments to stop you from falling over. Individually, these adjustments are tiny. Together, they require energy. By the end of the day, your body may feel more fatigued, not because you have done more, but because it has been working inefficiently for hours.

Why Standing Can Feel Exhausting:
Many women assume standing is automatically better than sitting. While standing certainly has benefits, standing poorly for long periods creates its own challenges. Locking your knees, hanging into your hips, or leaning more heavily onto one leg often reduces the support coming from your muscles and places extra stress on other structures. Your body then has to work harder to maintain balance and stability. Over time, this can contribute to fatigue, stiffness, and that familiar feeling of being physically drained by the end of the day.

Good standing posture is not about standing like a soldier. It is not about pulling your shoulders back or forcing yourself into a perfectly straight position. It is about creating a position where your body can work efficiently. The less unnecessary effort your body has to make, the more energy you have available for everything else that matters. The next time you find yourself standing in a queue, talking to a colleague, or waiting to pick up your child, notice how you are standing.  Small posture adjustments throughout the day can reduce unnecessary strain and help your body use energy more efficiently.

MEET SWATI

Hi there!
I am Swati, an Executive Mum Power Coach & Certified Posture Expert

I help mums of young kids working in high-stress executive jobs manage back, neck, and nerve pain, even with low energy, brain fog, and little time to spare. My proven system delivers real relief without stealing hours from your already packed day. The result? More productive professionals at work and guilt-free mums who can be fully present with their kids, instead of being sidelined by pain.

My passion comes from personal experience. I’ve been where you are: in pain, overwhelmed, and exhausted. After two pregnancies in three years, juggling my kids, housework, and a demanding job, I was stuck in a constant cycle of back and nerve pain. The physical load of motherhood added strain to my spine and joints. Meanwhile, adrenal fatigue left me drained, even after 10–12 hours of sleep.

Everyday tasks became a struggle. I was forgetful, foggy, and low on energy. Even as a trained physiotherapist and posture expert, I couldn’t escape my own pain. I stood all day at work, spent evenings on the laptop, rocked my kids to sleep, sat through endless meetings, traveled frequently ... I’ve been through it all.

I kept my pain hidden at work, afraid to speak up. I felt like a fraud, someone who coached others on relief strategies but couldn’t find relief herself. I loved my job and my children, but I couldn’t give 100% to either. Pain was holding me back.

One New Year, I made a resolution: to get healthy, not just fix pain, fatigue, or weight. I focused on reducing inflammation, healing my adrenal fatigue, and reclaiming my energy. Slowly but surely, the pain faded. I lost weight, my brain fog cleared, and my energy skyrocketed. Today, my pain is nearly gone. I feel stronger, clearer, and more in control than I have in years.
And now, I want that for you.

I combine professional expertise with lived experience to support other mums like me, those with young kids, high-stress jobs, and no time for complicated health programs. I’ve helped hundreds of women reduce spinal and joint pain, lift their energy, and clear the mental fog that holds them back.

If any of this resonates, you’re not alone. I’ve been there. I got you, mommy!

Let’s get you feeling strong, confident, and fully present at work and at home.
Are you ready to start? Curious about how this works? Just ask.

Let's DO THIS!
xx Swati
